Your learning is personal.
Packetwise uses the information you choose to provide to run your learning space, save progress and compare a specific university syllabus. This notice describes the current free service.
Who operates Packetwise
Packetwise is operated by Chaitanya Chaturvedi. For privacy questions, corrections, access requests or concerns, contact chaitanya4vedi.dev@gmail.com. This is an independent learning platform, not a university, IIT, Cisco or GATE organizing institute.
What you provide, and why
Account: your name, email and a one-way password hash support sign-in, recovery and verification. We do not store your password as plain text.
Academic context: institution, programme, semester and academic year help organize your learning. Department and university website are optional. We do not require a government ID, date of birth, student ID card, caste information or financial details.
Learning records: notes, bookmarks, explored chapters, answer attempts, test results, review flags, study plans, practical observations and certificates let you resume and review your work.
Syllabus records: source URLs, uploaded PDF/TXT files, extracted text, topic mappings and review notes support your requested coverage comparison. Upload only material you are entitled to share; remove unnecessary personal information.
Revision records: review actions, actor references, times and content hashes help distinguish current coverage from earlier revisions.
What the browser and server retain
Essential session and anti-forgery cookies keep your guest or signed-in session working. A remember-me cookie is created only if you choose that sign-in option. The server stores anonymous guest learning records linked to the session. You can optionally allow this browser to remember interface preferences and a topology model.
The server may record request information and diagnostic errors. The hosted installation uses the hosting mail transport for verification and recovery messages. In local development, messages may instead be written to a private server log. Delivery depends on the configured provider. Fonts and app assets are served by this application; this build includes no advertising, analytics pixels or third-party tracking scripts.
Who can see the records
Your account learning records and uploaded syllabus files are accessible through your session. Authorized administrators can see student-supplied syllabus records and the account name/email needed for review. Other students cannot browse your private maps or files.
The operator and anyone with administrative access to the hosting account can access application database, file storage and logs. Passwords are hashed; private files are access-controlled through the app, but the application database and uploaded files are not automatically encrypted at rest. MilesWeb provides hosting and the configured mail transport for this deployment. Cloudflare provides DNS and the proxied HTTPS edge; requests pass through that service. These providers may process operational request data under their own terms.
Your choices and controls
Reading the courses does not require an account. You choose whether to create one and whether to upload a syllabus. You can correct your academic profile, change your password, download your account records, download your original syllabus source, or delete your account from the Privacy centre.
An account export excludes password hashes, reset tokens and session secrets. Deletion removes active account learning records and uploaded syllabus files from this app. It does not erase copies you downloaded, records another person lawfully retained, or separate diagnostic or development mail logs. Contact the operator about those separate records. The last administrator must transfer access before deleting that administrator account.
Retention and operational limits
Account records remain available until you delete them or the operator removes them. Clearing a browser cookie alone does not erase server records; use the guest-reset or account-deletion controls where applicable. Guest records and manual backups do not yet have an automated retention schedule. The hosted application is configured to rotate its daily application logs after seven days. Hosting infrastructure logs or provider backups can have separate retention.
No off-site backup service is configured by this application. Contact the operator about records not covered by the in-app deletion controls. The operator must maintain operational retention and backup procedures; this notice makes no blanket legal-compliance certification.
Adult accounts and younger learners
In this version, account registration is for people aged 18 or older and includes an age attestation. A verified guardian-consent account process is not implemented. Younger learners can use open course explanations without submitting a student profile or syllabus. Do not create a student account for a child in this version.
External links and policy changes
When you follow an external reference, that site receives the request and applies its own privacy rules. We do not send your account or syllabus records to those sites. Policy updates will carry a new version date. Material changes to data collection should be explained before the new collection begins.
You can contact the operator to request access, correction, deletion or grievance review, including where a law gives you additional rights. Nothing in this notice limits rights available under applicable law.
